How To Find Your Employer Identification Number

Did you lose the EIN number issued to your business or entity? There are several steps you can take to search for and find your EIN number. To search for your EIN number:

  • Contact us (if you are a previous client of ours) with your full legal name and your entity's full legal name, and we can look up the issued EIN number;
  • Find the EIN notice issued by the IRS at the time you applied for an employer ID number;
  • Contact the bank if you used your employer identification number to open a business bank account or contact the appropriate state or local agency if you used your EIN number to apply for a business license; and/or
  • Call the IRS Business & Specialty Tax Line at 1-800-829-4933 between the hours of 7am and 10pm local time (Monday - Friday) to have the IRS look up the issued employer identification number for the business or entity. During the phone call, the IRS representative will be able to provide you with the previously issued EIN number as long as you are the responsible person associated with the employer ID number for the business or entity. You are considered the responsible person of the business or entity if your title is any one (1) of the following: executor, general partner, grantor, managing member, owner, principal officer or trustor.
